Continously ill 3.9 year old, should I be worried?

My lovely ds has been on and off ill since the middle of November. First it was a tummy bug then it was flu then it was a virus and then again over the christmas week he had high temperatures, coughing etc which turned into an outer ear infection because he was so run downIt has been one thing after another. Is it just the time of year or should I be more worried. I am not sure I can face the doctor telling me I am just another neurotic mother.

Or can anyone give me any ideas on how to boost his immunity? He's starting a new nursery on thursday and I imagine he will bringing a whole new collection of bugs! I know that these illnesses are typical for a three year old but I can't help but be a bit worried. Anyone got any ideas? I already give him a multivitamin each day and he eats a lot of fruit, carrots are his fav. Help!! I am getting myself in a tizz.

don't worry too much. I work ina nursery and we have had a lot of children like this recently, everyone has been ill. And, yes, he probably will bring home lots more bugs and illnesses. All I can advise is to make sure he gets lots of sleep, plenty of fresh air and eats well. His own immune system will do the rest!

Noticed you had gone unanswered... don't have any real advice sadly but do have a reassuring similar-ish story from a friend of mine. Her DD has been constantly ill for the last year, ended up on anti-biotics full-time but was STILL getting nasty infections...they were starting to think she had a problem but the good news is that after tests the doctors have said there is no real problem, she just has an immature immune system. No idea what that really means but apparently it will resolve in time. She is 3.3 and started pre-school in September so I think exposure to bugs just knocks them sideways, poor things. Hope your DS feels better soon.

I would get this book...here. It will help you alot. But you must understand that hoards of under 5s in a centrally heated nursery does not for good health make. Children need to spend at least a hour a day outside in the sunlight.

Thanks for your replies. I will def go and have a look at the book in our library, if they have it that is!

Glad to here that others have had this too. It is really beginning to get me down (and my poor ds). I have made a doc appointment anyway but I know what he will say, viral blah blah!

It's a PITA but something most DCs have to go through. Having said that I first took my DS to a homeopath and cranial osteopath nearly 18 months ago and he hasn't been ill once since, not even a cold.

ooh, I never thought about a cranial osteopath. Have to be honest, I have not had much success myself with homeopathy so have steered clear of it for dc but I might look into finding a childrens one. Thanks castles!
