breast bud thing? like a pea?

Quadrophenia · 02/12/2008 23:07

Mamag i think it may be very normal, something to do with hormones after birth, i only have a vague recollection though

MamaG · 02/12/2008 23:07

More elongated, peanut sized/shape really.

I know that babies can develop wee breasts due to residual hormones from you. I think fairly soon after birth, not sure exactly when though.

MamaG · 02/12/2008 23:08

I seem to remember reading something about nipples on baby being swollen sometimes, like tiny boobs, but not anything about it being hard

Mastitis - not the same as women get but all linked with the hormones they get from us before they're born. I think it's pretty normal and nothing to worry about. All 3 of mine had it and it was lumps as opposed to just swollen nips.

www.drgreene.com/21_355.html This link mentions lumps, like breast buds in a newborn.

bookthief · 02/12/2008 23:12

at the "cherish these moments" waffle though

MamaG · 02/12/2008 23:13

Thanks all - think I would have fretted all night

Glad it seems normal

Ds had this behind both nipples when he was born. I was told to squeeze them gently to relieve them and was when milk did indeed come out . Perfectly normal now though

Even though I had heard of this effect of hormones, I still had a mini-panic when I first noticed them on ds - think he was about 4 weeks old. Very hard lumps behind his nipples. Totally gone now (he's 6 months). I never squeezed them though.
