Not sure what to do about dd1 large spot

dd1 (8) told me she had an itchy spot on her back whilst she was in the bath
I had a look and ,I'm ashamed to say, a little squeeze.
she screamed like I was trying to chop her leg off and a huge glob of yellowy pus exploded out (tmi, sorry)

It looked very raised, hardaround it and very red
tonight it looks more red in a wider area and is very hard to the gentle touch

it covers an area of about the size of a fingernail (mine, not hers)

she had savlon on it last night and tonight but it seems to be getting worse since last night
could it be infected, do I need to take her to the drs?

I'd get it checked. It'll be nothing, but I'd want an abcess or boil ruled out or treated before I was happy.
