DD feeling unwell EVERY evening about 5pm, sometimes sick

My DD (nearly 3) became unwell on the way home from a weekend last weekend. since then she has been ill every evening starting between 4-5pm. She is fine during the day (a bit cuddly and more tired) and then suddenly becomes unwell. She says she has a sore tummy, starts doubling over, sometimes says her legs hurt, feels tired and is fighting to go to bed, won't eat and for the first few nights vomited. She has definitely got better, but a week on she is still crying and in pain in the evenings.
We saw a doctor mid week who felt it was a stomach bug and was happy she was going in the right direction.
It's just horrible to see here react so badly at 5pm…. anyone else have a similar bug? or any advice?

Has she started having something new for breakfast/lunch/snack every day?
It could be anxiety about being sick again.

What time do you feed her? As Whereisegg said, is she having something new in her food?

No nothing new. She was sick 6/7 times 2 nights in a row and then slowly getting better, but still starts saying her tummy hurts and rolling around in pain at about 5pm. She's not a winger normally and is definitely in pain. Even an offer of a Peppa a Pig Dvd falls on deaf ears.
I'm sure it's a bug, but doesn't stop you worrying! It's just weird it's at 5pm every night!

Has she been pooing normally?

DD was like this when she had fecal impaction.

Most illnesses get worse in the evening. There is a reason for it, a doctor told me once. I know if I have a cold, it always gets a lot worse in the evening.

When my dd was 3 she had a tummy bug that went on for 2 weeks. She was properly ill for 2 days and then seemed fine by day but would vomit at night. She sometimes skipped a night being ill but it would be back the next night.

I had a consultation with the GP by phone and she said little ones sometimes find it hard to shake off a bug and if she wasn't better in two weeks to bring her in.

Magically at 2 weeks it just stopped!

Could it be something like this?

Also some children become temporarily lactose intolerant after a bug.

A bit all over the place.... Slightly loose one day, no movement the next. Nothing too abnormal!

Hth

This sounds exactly like my DD! One more week to go then......
Thanks for the info, feels like there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

She hasn't vomited for 2 days and then tonight, she was sick again just before bed.

I hope it disappears next week... Fingers crossed

I hope she feels better soon. We were approaching the two weeks and I was really worried and ready to make an appointment to have her seen when it suddenly stopped.

Is this her first bad sickness bug?
I ask because ime the first is the worst.
2 weeks to recover is not uncommon...both mine were really ill with their first sickness bug.
It is miserable though.
Hope she feels better soon x

Yes, first sickness bug. I think that's why it's so bad... She's never sick!
Thanks for all your comments/advice x

Oh poor little thing. Hope she's OK after this week then! It does sound like that is the most likely thing, doesn't it?

My son could not shake off a sickness bug....similar to your DD...pains and vomiting intermittently. My GP said to do no dairy products at all for a fortnight to clear the bacteria in the gut which feed on dairy especially as these can cause tummy bugs to linger. It was very effective.
