Swollen face and eyes in 2 yr old, ? Allergy

Hi. My 2 yr old niece has had a swollen puffy face and eyes today. My sister thought she looked tired yesterday but it was only when she got up today that she thought she looked swollen. She took her to the doctor who said possible allergy and to come back if it happened again. She hasn't had anything new to eat or drink in the last few days. It seems to have gone down this evening. Any ideas?

How is she now? Does she have swelling anywhere else? My DS had a condition called nephrotic syndrome which started out with swelling. If she is still swollen, go back to GP.

Hi. Thanks for reply. She's still a bit blotchy but the swelling has come down. I did think of nephrotic syndrome as I read about it when my ds had protein in his urine some time ago. She forgot to mention to GP but had urine sticks in the house and did a test and it was clear do hopefully not that. Hope your ds is fine now.

Thanks. Yes DS is fine now. He had a few years with lots of relapses and was eventually sorted out with a few weeks of pretty heavy duty drugs.
