My 6 year old has had problems with her nose for over 10 weeks now and its really getting her down :(. It started when it was warm and her classroom is always hot she had about 12 nose bleeds in one week.

since then she has had a constant blocked/snotty nose and i mean thick green sticky snot (sorry). Her nostrill is so sore and the doctor has given her some antibiotic cream for it as she said its now infected, we used the cream for 10 days as as the doctor advised and it started to clear the soreness away (not the snot) but when the 10 days were up its came back with a vengeance. Now the doctor has told me to start the cream for 14 days. Its constantly blocked with massive bogies (sorry) so she cant breathe through her nose and within minutes of me cleaning it its full again.

she has recently started with a nasty sounding cough too (like a smokers).Today she complained of being dizzy too, my poor girl is falling to bits :(

sorry for the long post but i hope someone an help with their experience of a similar thing? should i demand referral to ENT? Im obviously thinking the worst, but 10 weeks is a long time isnt it!

Nosebleeds are not uncommon when the weather is hot and dry.

I really don't think you would be referred to an ENT for a nose blocked with snot though. If I were you, I would make another appointment with another GP and discuss the possibility of hayfever/allergies instead.

In the mean time, continue with the antibiotic cream (make sure she blow her nose thoroughly before applying so it doesn't end up being wiped of on her next sneeze.
