Gum pain in dd aged 5

Dd hurt her mouth when we went out for ice cream at the weekend. There were some heart shaped sprinkles which seemed to have hurt the top of her gum at the back. Since then she has complained but only once a day. I have just had a look and it looks to me like a new tooth growing although when i touch it with a cotton bud she flinches and to me it doesn't feel hard like a tooth would. Would it be possible for the sprinkles to have cut her gum and then an abscess formed? She isn't in a lot of pain. It's just something she's mentioned but i'm not sure what i should do! We don't have a dentist and i'm insure the emergency dentist don't see children here!
