Hi my dd is 4 and half and has had chicken pox for 2 days solid now I think at peak. They are so many on her face and they are beginning to crust now but still look quite raw and dark red. My
Mum said I shouldn't bath her until they are completely crusted... But I think she really needs a bath to speed it up. Is bicarbonate soda ok? What if it goes in her eyes won't it sting? I'm also worried I might take a spot off and scar her ... They are quite big on her face in particular :(

its fine to bath her. Bicarb is fine. Oats also supposed to be soothing

I don't think a bath will speed things up but it might help her feel better. As a warning we didn't hit peak til day 4 with both of mine.
Poxyclin mousse worked well for relieving itch and is meant to help prevent scarring.

There seems to be a chickenpox epidemic at the moment. I had my kids vaccinated privately like they do in the USA. Not cheap but peace of mind.

My son had scarlet fever and chicken pox at the same time and the doctor at the hospital said that he recommended that you don't bath kids for the first couple of days. He said you need to dry spots as quick as you can to minimise infection. Told us to keep applying calamine lotion on and it did help.
