Reflux - Fear of Eating

Hi All,

My LO is 14 months old and we are currently waiting for her to be diagnosed with Reflux. She was never a sicky baby but looking back now she had frequent hiccups and coughing at night time and what we presumed to be Colic.

Since she's been about 10 months old she has been vomiting frequently. She could have reallybad spells for a week and then notvomit at all for a month. She was quiteill as a baby and was 8 weeks early so she has some gastro issues anyway.

She is now undergoing tests to see if she may have food allergies/Reflux or a gut problem but my question is do any of your children now have a fear of eating?

I can deal with the reflux and vomit but my LO now has this severe phobia of eating. As soon as she sees her bowl she starts screaming and she's not putting any weight on. The only thing she will eat is bread and butter and for obvious reasons she cannot live on bread alone.

Does anyone have any experience with the same thing? Any helpful tips anyone could share would be so appreciated!

I have experience of feeding aversions in a younger baby (DS, now aged 3 1/2)

All i would say is, while you're waiting for the appointment, give her as much bread and butter as she wants. Anything to get the calories in.

Will she go for finger foods, if she won't countenance a bowl? Sometimes babies with reflux are happier with drier foods they can gnaw on as opposed to anything sauce-based or sloppy.
