He is bottle feed, takes his feeds well and until 2 days ago was winding fine. Last night about 8 he starting crying in pain. I knew it was wind, it didn't go until 11ish. He was restless all night. Fine today then 4.30 started again. It's awful to see him in so much pain and so tidy. Could his be a one off? Or does this sounds like the start of colic?

It sounds like colic but could be a one off, sorry not helpful I know. The only way to tell if it is colic is to see if it keeps happening.

My dd1 had awful colic, exorcist style vomiting after every feed and crying for hours at night. Winding her three or four times with each bottle helped reduce the vomiting. She also liked being laid on my shoulder while I patted her back firmly but not hard.

Dentinox colic drops were a life saver. 5ml mixed into her bottles 6 times a day, I think it gives the maximum number of doses on the box. It worked wonders and she was noticeably better within two days and if she'd had one less dose in a day it was very noticeable as she'd be back to screaming again.

You can either wait a few days to see if this is just a one off or use the drops straight away. If you use them and its not colic then it won't do any harm. If they don't help I've heard that colief (so) is very gods but expensive.
