Night feeds and teething

Hi,
just wondering if anyone has any advice about night feeding and teeth coming through. I read somewhere that if your LO feeds during the night it can harm new teeth just coming through. I had a nip off my DS tonight when feeding and although I can't actually see a tooth, I can certainly feel a jagged edge of his first one just coming through. He tends to feed about 7 times a night so I'm worried about tooth decay.
Thanks in advance

I don't think tooth decay is a worry with breast milk-I've certainly never heard of it as being a specific problem as the milk goes straight to the back of the throat so it's not really near the front teeth IYSWIM. Is that a typo or does your baby feed 7 times a night!!

Hi NickyEds
Yes, I'm afraid it isn't a typo! He really does feed up to 7x per night, on and off!! I have tried to move him to his cot but he still wakes and screams for milk. He's done it since birth and I don't have the heart to try control crying as the HV suggested. (plus worried about the neighbours!) Thanks for your reply. Good to know that breast milk won't harm new teeth

I think hv must be trained in cc and little else!! They must not have neighbours.........or ear drums!! Someone I know suggested giving babies a clean damp flannel to chew on to keep tiny teeth clean until they're ready for a toothbrush.
