Unexplained limp

Dd is 3 and couldn't walk yesterday - no apparent reason but for about 6 hours she couldn't put any weight on one leg and complained of knee pain . Was fine in herself but slight fever.

Walked normally and no temp after those 6 hours - doctor said just one of those things but have option of a follow up appointment if we want one, think we will tbh.

Anyone experienced this?

Yes, ds has had transient hip synovitis after a virus. He experienced it as knee pain. We wanted it checked out as he was in the age group for perthes disease and a relative has had juvenile arthritis with onset at preschool age.

Kids don't fake limps at that age. Definitely keep an eye on it.

Eldest had this. Local a&e checked him out (urine test) as it could be serious and need treatment or totally benign, which it was, thankfully.

The doctor felt and said good range of movement etc when being palated and it only hurt when she put weight on it. Didn't do bloods / scans etx though hence why I feel I may well go to follow up as am concerned.

This has happened my ds 3 times, after going to a&e the last time I was told it was because he had a viral infection and it had caused inflammation in the fluid around his joints. Apparently it may happen every time he's unwell but is just the way it affects him!

My sons have all had this around the same age and it was irritable hip due to a virus.
