Blood from ear

My dd fractured her collarbone 4 weeks ago and for the last 2 weeks she has been having dizzy spells mixed with ear ache intermittently. I have taken her to the doctors three times during this period and each time they can not find anything wrong.

Today she came out of school and told me that blood had come out of her ear when she was resting her head against her hand. I managed to get a doctors appointment straight away but again nothing wrong with the ear. She has been given ear drops to try but if no improvement we have to go back on Monday.

The doctor did ask if she banged her head when she fell off her bike when she fractured her collarbone but me and dh did not see as she had gone down the other side of the hill and she has always said she didn't and there were no marks on her head at all considering she had cut her shoulder blade, elbow and bottom I would expect there might be a mark but now I am panicking that she has banged her head.

Can anyone give any advice?

I would take her to A&E and get it checked. All the GP could have checked for would be the state of the eardrum; the fact that there's blood could mean damage further in, ifswim. She could be concussed and it needs to be ruled out. Definitely get this checked out, please! Hope she's okay.

Thanks I have just got back from a&e they say unrelated to fracture as too long ago and bleeding came from outer ear as otherwise the ear drum would have been burst if it came from inner ear.

I feel much more reassured now. They think it is a viral infection that's causing the ear ache and dizziness.

When at a&e the dr and nurse acted like I was an over anxious mother for taking her but I think it was the right thing to do as bleeding from the ear is surely not common.

Oh no, definitely the right thing to do, especially after having a fall.
When my DD was a toddler she fell and split her forehead open on our front step, she had been running at the time. She was very unsteady on her feet for weeks afterwards.
Then one day I had my other DD at a chiropractor who was watching DD wobbly about . She said she was so wobbly because she had whiplash from her fall. She put her on the bed and clicked her back into place .
