Advice please re keeping DD cool whilst she has a temp

My DD aged 9 has a temperature of 38.8, doc says its a virus! Anyway the house is sooooo hot tonight she just can't get cool. Any tips, ideas would be welcome.

So far we have all windows open top and bottom, cool flannel for head, cool water spray. She's maxed out on calpol and nurofen.

Thanks in advance

As long as she's not in any discomfort, just let the fever do its thing. It's helping her body fight off the virus. Hope she feels better soon.

NHS direct mentioned that cooling the skin down can actually increase core temp as it can cause shivering. This was in a conversation about babies, though. Not sure if it applies to older children.

Thanks Bumbley and Coolski. It's not so much reducing her temperature but making the temp of her surroundings more bearable and therfore her feel comfortable. At the moment she is unbearably hot in an unbearably hot house making for a very cross, unsettled child who is normally so 'ok' being ill as she's very used to it poor thing. The thunder storms have just started here (no rain yet-just the noise) so maybe that will reduce the air temp.
