Dd3 has had chicken pox, then she got a stomach bug, then a high temp with barking cough. Her temp has been down for 2 days but she has a very heavy cold. She has slept fairly well the past couple of nights but tonight, she has been crying for 3 hours solid. She has had Calpol, extra milk, water, some food, nappy change. Her throat sounds dry but she does not have a temp. She normally sleeps really well. Why is she crying so much????

I remember taking my DS1 to A&E one night because he cried for so long. While we were at A&E, waiting for the Dr after the triage nurse had seen us, I cuddled him (because there was no bed to put him in) and he calmed down and went to sleep. The nurse, when she came back, said that inconsolable babies sometimes get themselves into a state and need a mother's [calm] presence and to be held. I suppose I was calmer at the hospital than at home because I felt that we were surrounded by the experts. That's just for what it's worth.

My other comment would be that with her being your third child, I would say trust your instincts. If you are worried, seek medical advice. But perhaps a little cuddling while you do that?

Is it croup?

Other than that I'd get her ears checked again.
