Noro Virus? how long does it last?

My DS6 has been ill for days now. It started on Wednesday with diarhoea, and vomitting, a whole 12 hours of keeping nothing down, not even water. Then Thursday he could keep water down but had tummy cramps and a temp, then yesterday similar but a bit better then today he is still not right. Diarhoea last night and only managing say half a cup of milk etc.
Is this normal for this type of bug, I thought he would be better by now?

www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Rotavirus-gastroenteritis/Pages/Symptoms.aspx - it can linger for a wee while. When ds had it he didnt regain his proper appetite for at least a week after he stopped having the d & v.

Ds1 had this when he was 2. He was 'proper poorly' for 5 days, after which he was getting better but still ill for another 4. It took 2-3 weeks before he was really back to himself.

Now he's 7 and has had flu and the like but it's still the most ill he has ever been. Watch out for dehydration but if he's stopped vomiting and can keep some liquids down he is likely getting better (we found the diarrhoea lasted several days after the vomiting had stopped, as the bug worked its way through him).

HTH

Give the milk a miss if you can - lactose can upset their tummy after noro.

Try water / weak squash and BRAT diet.

We all had it in January - we were all exactly as you describe and with ds (6) it lasted on and off for 9 days.
