Vomiting because of fever or fever because of vomiting?

dd - 3 has had the never ending cough and been listless and off her food for over a week. Temperature on and off - some days high, then a day normal. GP says... viral - of course. Last night dd -3 and dd - 7 both started throwing up and both have high temperatures. Using both paracetomol and ibuprofen when possible isn't really helping to bring the temperature down - both are hovering at around 38.5 degrees. I am wondering if they are vomiting because they are so hot and in fact the fever is related to something else. Or if the fever is part of a sickness bug. I don't remember them being so ill with sickness bugs in the past - they are both wasted and have had to be carried to the loo etc, both taking sips of drink in between sleeping.

I've got no solution to offer, just solidarity -DS has come down with the same thing this morning.

He's had a cough all week but has been fine in himself, maybe a little tired but it hasn't bothered him, then this morning he's started throwing up. Temperature hovering around 38.5, Calpol and ibuprofen not really making a vast difference. He's alternating between sleeping and just lying there awake.

We've given him some lemonade, he's threw some of it up but not all and seems to have kept it down better than water or juice.

My DCs both had this - I spoke to the pharmacist who said that there was a flu-type bug going around our area which typically presented with vomiting and/or diarrhoea as the virus was working its way out of the system. Sounds like your DDs may have a similar thing, but might be best to call OOH if you're worried.
