Movicol Experts... advice on reduction needed

I know there are lots of you out there! My DS has been on Movicol for around 9 months but recently paediatrician advised (as did you Mumsnetters!) that he needed more. I started upping his dose by a sachet a day and he's now been taking 4 sachets a day for about a week and a half. His bowel movements have improved greatly - from big movements about once a week and lots of soiling and small ones in between, to decent sized movements increasing to every other day and finally.... yesterday AND today. That's the first time he's done that for as long as I can remember! (All very sloppy but not liquid, still some soiling/leaking but not too bad.)
Anyway.... I'm thinking of keeping him on 4 sachets for a little while, as the result has been so successful, but next appointment not until May, so was thinking of gradually trying to reduce before then. So, in the opinion of those with experience, how soon should I reduce, and by how much etc. I thought maybe leave it another week to see if the going every day or nearly every day is established, then reducing by a half for a week - so 3.5 sachets a day, then if all ok another half, etc. Does this sound about right?
