constipation in 7 yr old - help!

my 7 yr old dd has been suffering constipation on & off for the last 6 months. She is on movicol but is terrible at actually taking it, I have been assuming she's drank it when actually half of each drink has often been chucked down the sink. So now she has really bad tummy pains, we've had slight overflow the last 2 days but did pass a reasonable sized poo earlier that really hurt her bottom. Now I think she might be withholding because of the pain. She has actually had 2 movicol yesterday & 3 today (under strict supervision!) normally she should have just 1 a day but I see from the dosage instructions it can be upped more. If the stomach pain is still there tomorrow should she go to the doctors or just keep dosing her up? TIA

Hiya, I have an 8 year old who has been on movicol for about a year. It sounds like your dd has got things moving, maybe give her 2 today then reduce them back to one a day if her poo is regular and soft.

We are struggling to come off movicol. We can manage fine on half a sachet per day, but every time we try less than that it's back to square one.

Hope she's feeling better today. My dd has her movicol in squash, she refuses to drink it alone.

We went up to about five or six sachets I think before anything shifted with ds1 (5at the time). Try ribena maybe?
