series of itchy rashes on a 4yo - any ideas?

DD2 (4) has had a series of rashes since the start of January, which I thought were over but now seem to be starting up again. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? We've been back to the GP several times but they just give her antihistamine and emollients and don't seem interested in what is actually causing the rashes.

At the start of Jan she had a rash on her body, which the GP described as exczemous and which went away with the use of a steroid cream. But almost as soon as it had gone (late Jan) she came up in an itchy rash on her arms and legs. Antihistamine didn't particularly seem to help, but it gradually faded. And now, just as she seemed to be finally clear of it, she woke up today with a dry blotchy face - slightly puffy looking around the eyes - and this evening she had itchy bumps on her wrists.

What could it be? An allergic reaction? could it be dietary? As I say, I don't feel we're getting much help from the GP so perhaps the power of mumsnet can help...
