Soft tissue damage on dd foot, now swollen, hot and yellowish?!

My dd2 (3years) had a fall at soft play on Monday, we took her to a&e as she was in a lot of pain and couldn't walk on it. They did lots of X-rays and concluded that she has soft tissue damage and it should get better on its own within 3-5 days.

She has been limping around on it all week and it seemed to be getting better, until this afternoon where it has swollen up again (swelling originally went on tues) it's warm/hot to touch, and is also a yellowish colour, much different to her other normal looking pink foot!
I've had her resting with her foot elavated slightly all afternoon and applied a cold compress, but it hasn't made any difference.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it normal?

Thanks

Possibly a hematoma?

What are the symptoms of swelling or hematoma?
Signs of a hematoma may include pain, a lump under the skin, swelling and discolored skin (purple, green-yellow and yellow beneath the skin).

Heat is possible infection, get her back to A&E/GP and see if she needs antibiotics.

Yep, yellowing + heat = infection.

Get her seen ASAP to stop it from worsening and get treatment.

Thank you for all the replies. The skin hasn't ever been broken, no bleeding etc, is it still possible to get an infection? Sorry I'm a bit clueless!

Thanks

Sounds like an infection, best get it treated and then worry about where it came from, go on, off the computer and down to the Drs Smile

Sounds like an abscess.

Looks like she's broken two metertarsal (sp?) bones in her foot, they have now decided there is something showing on the X-rays and have put a half pot on it until Monday when she has to go to the fracture clinic. Annoyed they didn't spot it on tuesday and she's been walking around all week! Confused

Thanks for all the advice, pleased I took her now!!

Very hard to spot on a little child's x-ray to be fair. They don't really 'break' like tough old adult bones do. Glad they have sorted her out though, she will heal incredibly quickly at her age, fracture clinic will hopefully make things clearer.

Glad you went, even if I was very bossy Wink
