how could ds have got an inflamed tendon in his foot??

ds is 10, told me yesterday he has a lump on his foot. This morning lump was noticeably larger and second smaller lump appearing. He couldn't put foot to floor properly, was walking on his toes.

Saw the gp, he said it is probably an inflamed tendon, has suggested rest and Ibuprofen and then return to see him if not improved.

The swelling is on the bottom edge of his heel, at the side. ds has said it has bee a bit sore on and off since Christmas (he tells me now!)

gp couldn't suggest what had caused it.

ds is very tall for age with big feet, he is very active - plays football in playground all the time, but doesn't do any sports clubs except school football.

How can he have injured his tendon??

My DH did his by stepping off a kerb!

Could possibly have something to do with the shoes that he is wearing too. DH had been wearing the flat Converse style fashion trainer type things which don't give an awful lot of support to the feet.

Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable might come along soon Smile

thanks. he doesn't remember doing anything to it, just was sore for a few weeks and now suddenly swollen.

He has had same shoes (clarks) since sept and proper trainers out of school.

I am totally thrown, can't work out what he has done at all!

Are there any doctors out there?

The websites say ice pack it and rest until initial swelling goes down and then warm bath and heat packs. I have no idea of he is in the initial stage or next stage "sigh"

just bumping, sorry to be a pain, but a bit concerned by this very sore tendon, and have no experience of how to treat it

Met a friend who is a nurse and she suggested his shoes were too flat, but he wears clarks school shoes which I would have though were supportive.

He now says the heel on the other foot is hurting and the selling is not really going down.
Does anyone know the cause please??

Just bumping for you steppemum in the hope that someone comes along who can help.

That was the problem with my DH's shoes - too flat.
