Ok, why do I always get tears in my eyes at the end of this book? The pictures are pretty but so not my taste, the text doesn't always scan and it irritates me that the girl's mum drops her at schools at a quarter to ten and comes for her at a quarter to three, but as soon as I hit the last page my eyes well up. WHY?!

I bought this for dd after reading the rave reviews about it on here, and tbh, find it a bit odd. (and I hate the drawings)
Not as odd as the blimmin always and forever thing I also read last night (after reading about it on here) which has now given dd the heebs- she cried when I got to the page about not living near Mummy anymore and not seeing her every day and has asked me about 10 times this morning what being old means, and when am I going to get old.....
Think I'll stick to the Rainbow Fairies.

Me too.
The Big Big Sea is just as bed.
And In the Middle of the Night.

And I NEVER turn to the very last page of We're Going On a Bear Hunt because it's SOOOOOO sad to see the bear walking away all miserable because he only wanted to play and everyone ran away from him.

Awww, i never realised that about the bearhunt book, I always told dd that the bear wanted to eat the family and they had to escape from him!
I wonder how many other childrens books i'm missing the point of

But that's the thing Bucharest, I don't think it's that great a book either, but I always get a lump in my throat at the end. It's crazy.

Bear hunt is sad tho.

It's the Mousehole Cat that makes me cry every single time.

It gets me too MissM!! It's the whole life moving on thing and the next generation becoming parents. It's the same as A Year in the City. It is a beautiful poem that goes through each month of the year and is so poignant about how the years keep turning.

I'm right with you Miss M gets me every time too. although I'm fascinated in the backstory behind "uncle" Tom . if you want the full on blub over total tosh experience you should try listening to I hope you dance - by lee ann womack [gulp]

If the end of Bear Hunt makes you sad you should read the sequel "Bear in a Cave". It has a fab ending.

I'm with you OP. I always struggle with the last page due to the tears welling up.

Dear Daddy gets me that way too...

Hey, I wonder about Uncle Tom too! I said exactly that to DH the other day - "I do wonder what Uncle Tom's story is" were my exact words. It's definitely a sad one...
