Anybody read this classic? My 8 year old ds has started to read it, and wondered if its suitable for him? he is a fantastic reader so not worried about that - just wondered if it is a kids book or not? (didn't fancy wading through it myself!)

thanks

Depends if the book you have is re-written for kids or not.

It's Arthur Conan Doyle, who is by far the BEST fictional author! ds is 5 and he loves The Lost World, he gets dh to read it to him every night. But if it's the adult version you have there, the language may be too hard for him to understand.

Its deffinately written in an adult way. just wanted to be sure there were no scenes of an adult nature in it, , without me having to read the thing myself.

Conan Doyle is a true gentleman and there certainly aren't any 'adult' scenes in there. The most adult it gets is one of the characters getting all flustered because he's due to propose to his girlfriend - she turns him down because he's not 'brave' enough. ACD did love his chivalry!

You'd need to edit the language or he won't have a clue what they are papping on about.
