Help, ds2 will be 2 soon and even though we are overseas it's easy to ask for and send us books for birthday presents. But with 3 dc we already have most of the 'usual' crowd, can anyone recommend some newer offerings that we can ask the rellies to send us?

Penguin by Polly Dunbar. Wildly funny even if you're a lot older than 2.

And do you have My Many Coloured Days by Dr Seuss but not typical of him, good as an introductory colours book and beautiful too.

DD (2.7) loves The Tiger Who Came To Tea - she recites it pretty mum word for word. Actually, I'm getting rather sick of it now, so I think I'll check out some of your recommendations.

I saw that there's a play of it touring, but I've missed all the dates in the North West.

I had Harold when I was a child, it's a great book. We have a well loved Tiger book. We don't have Many Coloured Days, though we seem to have every other Dr Seuss book known to mankind. Penguin looks like fun, thanks.

Any other suggestions??

Do you have any Tom and Pippo stories? What about Mog?

I won't be much help, I'm afraid, ds2 always wants the same couple of books and won't let me read him anything different.

I have to try to sneak a new book in by starting to read when he is nearby.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I wrote and posted then the computer crashed and kept playing up!

We have lots of Mog books and we LOVE the Night Pirates. I shall pop Tiddler on the list.

Wallace I've never heard of Tom and Pippo stories, I shall go off to investigate.

Keep them coming...

I've just remembered this book Ten Seeds which is lovely (was clearing out DD's shelves for books to pass on to her cousin).
I also like Ben Plants a Butterfly Garden although it has lots of flaps and would only suit a fairly gentle 2 year old.

We are big fans of Oliver Jeffers in this house.

DS absolutely loves "We're Going On A Bear Hunt" too.

On the Bookstart website there is a list of books for toddlers. It is great and has loads on there that I haven't got. Worth checking out. booktrustadmin.kentlyons.com/downloads/Great_Books_for_Toddlers.pdf

What about getting the rellies to do a book about where they live or who everyone is? These books are definitely different and I found them easy to create.I've had a few books from this company and my DS loves looking at the photos and can even read the words! Not sure if they post overseas, you'll have to check

Great links, thank you all so much. I love the idea of the photobooks, we might do one for my nephew.

Tyrannosaurus Drip - Julia Donaldson. Best rhyming test in a long time.

Wide Awake Jake - Rachel Elliot.

Bob - Tracey Campbell Pearson.
