A good sex education book for BOYS??????

Ds is aged 8 and I want to get him a book that will explain things in quite a basic manner. Most books seem to be written for girls and are heavy on the topic of periods and sanitary protection.

I saw one in the library recently, but it was far too detailed and explicit. It made me look like this . Bearing in mind I actually work in said library, we seem to have a distinct lack of relevant books for this age group.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

My 10 year old has 'Living With A Willy' but it might be too 'adult' for an 8-yr-old.

We read through some of the salient points together then I put it in his book case ''for the fuutre''

With my 8-year-old, he just asks questions and I answer them. Fairly simply.

I recently bought one for DS aged 9. Itis an Usborne one titled something like' What's Happening to my Body?' There's a girl version and boy version. I think it is very good and pitched at just the right level.

If there are any other good recommendations, then I will forward the list to the buying team at work. The ones we have are either too babyish or too grown up.

What's Happening to Me? Boys Edition, Alex Firth, Usborne

"Where Willy went" is really good but on the young side."Willies, a user's guide" is probably a bit too old, it's more similar to "Living with a Willy". It'd say for an 8 year-old the Usborne one is probably best.

The book I've got is lets talk about sex which is approved by the family planning association

I like the Usborne one best at the moment I think.

The Lynda Madaras "What's happening to my body" looks a bit advanced in my opinion. Especially some of the illustrations of sexual organs and there is a chapter on "measuring testicle size". Can just imagine what ds would make of that.

We've got 'Let's Talk' as well. It was a great introduction, but DS needed a bit more information. The good thing about the Usborne one is they can read themselves if they want to. It uses very simple language but is not at all patronising.

Walker Books do three books aimed at 3 different age groups. We have got the middle one for my 10 year old - Let's Talk about Where Babys Come From. I looked at several different books and thought this was by far the best; it is also the one approved by the Family Planning Association.

The other two books are for younger children (5 or 6) and for teenagers, but can't remember their titles.

Thank you to the people that have suggested sex education books, my seven year old daughter heared the word sex on futurama and has asked me what it means, I felt really embarrassed and said i'd tell her later to buy myself time to buy a book in the hope that i don't scar her for life.
Thank you
