My daughter doesn't seem to have the patience for her older sister's books (J Wilson, allys world, even tried the Rainbow Fairies) although she does love reading and I really want to encourage her.

She tells me that she likes joke books but feel this is a limited 'genre' for her.

Any ideas of short, interesting girly books, possibly funny ones to catch her interest?

Agent Amelia by Michael Broad? They have 3 short stories in each book
Anything by Dr Seuss although some find him contraversial.
Anything with a CD she can listen to and follow.
Try a LeapPad or Leapster- although traditionally aimed at younger children, they do some fantastic stuff for older readers too. Try getting some from America on ebay, they use them in schools out there so there are some really interesting age appropriate titles! DD loves hers!

Thanks - I don't mind the Dr Seuss so will look out for some more at the library.

We do have a leap pad so will dig that out too! Good tip on the American games.

"Allie Finkles Rules For Girls" by Meg Cabot is funny and short chapters and aimed at her age group.

Also why not magazines, comics or annuals.
