Children's books

It finally happened ... I persevered with a book and I DID like it in the end.

I have an irritating trait that I am incapable of giving up on a book part-way through, and I struggle on to the bitter end, though invariably am equally disappointed with the second half as with the first, and with the end as with the beginning. So I end up wondering why I wasted part of my life on this rubbish.

But it didn't happen this time. I read the Book Thief and really didn't get on with it. It was a huge battle most of the way through forcing myself to read it all. But the last few chapters were beautiful and made the struggle all worthwhile. I wept buckets of course.

awww Glad you did it I love books and am insanely stubborn, so I tend to finish everything just to spite the bad book (Yes, phrases involving noses and faces to spring to mind)

(Do you know you're in children's books?)

Yes ... I ummed and ahed about it. I think it's an adult book, but someone told me recently it's aimed at teenagers

So I'm not sure.

I generally read teenage books anyway as I run two reading clubs and have a keen 11 yr-old ds1 reader, so like to keep abreast of what they are reading. But I won't be recommending The Book Thief to them!

I've not read it I think it is on my pile here somewhere....

I tend to shove teenage in adult, but then I am odd.

Like Twilight etc - aimed at late teens I think, but soooooooooooo good I think sabriel is aimed at teens too

I struggled at the beginning but loved it in the end - although apparently it's supposed to bring a tear at the end - which it didn't [cold hearted emoticon]

I persevered with the book too.....and loved it in the end ((altho I to cried))

I bought mine in tesco and then, once I had read it, was quite shocked to see it in the older teen section in waterstones. not a teen book at all IMO!

But then, twilight should not be either..........I would not want to fight my teens over edward, so tis an adult book all the way!
