Book recommendations for 11-year-old DD

My DD is 11, due to start secondary school in September. She likes books where the main characters are girls. Around this time last year someone recommended the Casson family books by Hilary McKay and she really liked those. I find 11 a slightly tricky age for picking books because it can be hard to tell whether content is going to be grown up enough without being too adult. Would welcome some recommendations! TIA

Elizabeth Goudge "The Little White Horse" I loved at that age. Also, how about Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books?

Have you been on the Mighty Girl website? They are great for recommending books with female main characters.

My DD (age 10 and book mad) is currently reading the Northern Lights trilogy by Phillip Pulman. She says they're the best books she's ever read and they have a great female lead character.

Michael Morpurgo is a fantastic author and is perfect for that age range (I teach Y6). My class especially loved Kensuke's Kingdom. X

These books have awesome female lead characters;

Ophelia and the Marvellous Boy

The Secret Hen House Theatre

Finding Serendipity

Rooftoppers

Waffle Hearts - main male & female character

Have fun - these are lovely, adventure filled books perfect for this age group. Most have been published within the last 12 months too.

I haven't read it yet, but it comes on very good recommendation - "Murder most Unladylike: A Wells & Wong Mystery" by Robin Stevens.
Agatha Christie meets Enid Blyton, I think!
