We are delighted to announce that our children's picture book of the month is the bear with the big heart, We Love You Hugless Douglas by David Melling.

This wonderful book is both written and illustrated by David Melling and follows Hugless Douglas as he journeys to find a best friend with Flossie the Sheep. Yet perhaps what Douglas is looking for is right under his nose...

To find out more about the book and author and how to enter the draw to win one of fifty copies of the book, visit the chapter book of the month page. Please come back and let us know what you thought of the book on the thread and you'll be entered to win a giant Douglas plush toy!

Hugless Douglas books are great, my daughter won one as a prize at school for a drawing competition and both my girls really enjoy them.

Done - we love Hugless Douglas. DD loves the little drawings at the back of the book and can spend ages talking about the different types of hugs, or hats. I'm a fan of the sheep myself.

I simply adore this book, I fell instantly in love with Douglas. We can all relate to waking up and needing a hug, so why not go out and search for one? That's just what the adorable Douglas does. My three year old niece hasn't moved for over an hour admiring the colourful pictures and wanting me to read it " again, again & again!" My sixteen year old daughter also bounded in from college and sat with a warm cup of coffee and totally enjoyed reading the book too. The verdict from my little corner of the world is a mighty big thumbs up to David Melling, for creating such a wonderfully enjoyable read. Thanks to Mumsnet for bringing this lovely ray of sunshine into our home on this rainy Autumn day.

We Love you Hugless Douglas is a great book about a very caring bear and friendship, it is beautifully illustrated and a pleasure to read to/with small children.

We received our book yesterday and I read it to my two girls (age 3 and 5) at bedtime. We all enjoyed pouring over the bright and colourful pictures and it inspired a good chat about friendship and what friends mean to us. Douglas is such a cute loveable character I think we'll have to have a look at the other books in the range for Christmas. Thanks Mumsnet :)

We were over the moon to win a copy of 'We love you, Hugless Douglas' by David Melling, so when it arrived yesterday I know bedtime for Pippa (2 1/2) was sorted. Like the other Hugless Douglas books the pictures are warm and inviting, the story leads you in wanting you to give Douglas a cuddle. And just when you are ready to give him that cuddle his furry friends are they to do the job for you, leaving with that warm fuzzy feeling inside. I love the little bunnies, always a highlight for me (39), and after 'We love you, Hugless Douglas' last night Pippa added 'Douglas is Funny!'. We look forward to many more adventures with Douglas, David Melling is fantastic.

Thank you for the lovely picture book. It really is excellent. Beautiful, vibrant illustrations. We rather liked the cow the best. (Ds is very into cows). Nobody could help but love Douglas. He really is endearing, as is Ds when at the end of the tale I received big hug and sloppy kiss.

What a lovely book Smile - we won this in your giveaway Thanks My 4 yr old says "it's good! I like it when the rabbits surprise him". My 9 yr old was also enjoying every minute. The illustrations give added humour to these beautiful children's books. I think I am a bit like Douglas in this book "We Love you Hugless Douglas" I am awaiting my huggy endings Smile

This is a lovely book and has made it very quickly onto 3yr old DS1's bedtime favourite pile. He likes the bouncing bunnies best. I rather love the two old cows sitting making milkshake. This is a book which gets asked for again and again and we will be looking out for others.

Thank you for our copy of We Love You Hugless Douglas. It was a lovely tale about all being friends together - which is particularly relevant when my 3 year old is all about best friends at the moment. She really enjoyed it and said "ah, what a nice story" at the end.
