Childbirth

Just wondering?

Who can help?
My dd was three weeks early. Is there a general rule that subsequent births might also be early - or will this have no bearing on future pregnancies?

Also - birth was very quick (approx 2hrs) - will this have a bearing?

I think it partly depends on the reason that you went into labour the first time? Was it spontaneous?

In that case I think you're more likely to go early. But at least your daughter wasn't too terribly early (was she OK?) so hopefully you can make it to close to your due date.

My first was born at 36 weeks. I was induced because my water had broken. I was worried that the same thing would happen with the second, but she wasn't born until 3 days before her due date (although my waters broke before labour started).

My ds1 was born 4 days late, dd1 4 days late so I knew dd2 would be 4 days late. I only packed my bag the day before she was born 4 days early. That told me. The dts were 3.5 weeks early. One birth doesn't necessarily set the pattern. Good luck by the way

Megi, my dd was born 35+5 (no reason, she just came). ds was 40+1. I was amazed - convinced I'd have another early bird. So IME, the answer to your question is no.

My DS1 was born a week early so when DS2 was a week late, the wait was terrible!!
