Childbirth

is there such a thing as an antenatal class video?

It appears I've left it too late to get into any classes at my hospital or doctors as I'm due to give birth in 8 weeks, and seriously didn't think that I'd miss the boat.

Are there videos that anyone can recommend that would show breathing techniques...and anything else that I just can't do without in labour?

It's my first pregnancy so I really don't have a clue so any advice would be great.

Thanks - Joe

We only had 8 weeks to fit in antenatal stuff when we came back to the UK to have ds and the hospital fitted us in (although we would have missed the last class if ds hadn't been late) The GP's practice also had a look round at other hospitals (we are quite rural so several small places) and we could have fitted in at one of those, so it might be worth going back and nagging a bit, even if you have to drive to another town, they usually don't mind. But to be honest, having read all the books, the hospital classes didn't add much. We really wanted NCT classes (for breathing tchniques etc) and they were all full. A local NCT teacher though did us a private session to cover the basics, for which we had to pay, but not astronomic. We found her through our local NCT rep.
