Hi Izzyrubi. I too will be going to Kingston, though not until the end of May. I've only just been referred by my GP, so haven't yet heard from the midwife. So, I can't add a lot of information here.

You may want to have a look at www.birthchoice.co.uk or drfoster.co.uk.

What kind of birth are you hoping for? Natural? Caesarean? Is this your first?

I will too be going to Kingston in Feb. One of my friends is there in April for her second - Her first was born there 2 years ago and she has chosen to go back there (had choice of 2 others) so I guess that speaks for itself (or at least I hope it does !). I think I get a 'tour' at one of my Antenatal classes so you may do too ?!

Ooooo absolutely. Ask your midwife about a hospital tour. I can't believe it hasn't been offered. This is my second. First was in Epsom, and we had a group tour of the hospital. I thelps to put your mind at rest just knowing what is there if it is needed.

My dd was born by emergency caesarean due to failed induction and foetal distress. I hadn't even considered the possibility that I would have a caesarean. But, I have no fear of suregery, so when the midwife was calling the consultant in because the heart rate was dropping, I was more than happy to sign that paper... which I don't believe should be legal binding when youcondier all the drugs I was on. :-)

Anyway, this time I very much want a caesarean... but I'm expecting resistance. We'll see....
