hi, i am 40 weeks today with my 2nd baby. had a lot of downward pressure and twinges over the last week and today more pronounced. my ds1 was born 1,5 hours after i got to hospital ( was already 10 cm when i got there, had no idea) so i guess i imagine this delivery will be similar. now getting very painful twinges right in my ahem - front bottom.... but baby is still moving, doesn't seem to have slowed down and i thought that was supposed to happen before labour.

can't remember what happened first time round as had no build up. any advice ladies, gratefully received.

Hi. Wow! What an amazing first labour.

Usually you'll get some kind of sign like a show, or the plug of mucous coming out of the cervix or the waters breaking.

My babies were all pretty still by the time labout came but I always assumed that's because they had no room to move.

OMG, are you one of these people who has a practically 'silent' labour? IE painless contractions?

In view of your previous history I might consider calling the hospital or your cmw if you can get them at this time of night.

But every labour is different so it may just be pre labour.....

I always advise listening to your instincts so what do your say to you now?

Sorry, I'm not much more help! If you didn't tell us about ds I'd say have a nice warm soak in the bath and get a good night's sleep... if it's not real contractions you will be able to get to sleep as they should tail off.

Keep posting, the ladies love a live labour thread!

Congratulations, just read the OP and was going to say it sounds like it, and to be aware it could be quick (your first sounded similar to mine and my 2nd was v quick) but I was too late Enjoy your new born.
