Experiences of Central Middlesex or Chelsea & Westminster?

Hi all -
I'm seeing dr tomorrow (i'm 5 + 3) and putting Queen Charlotte's as first choice (been going there for non-pg stuff so feel comfortable there and also seems they have generally v good reputation). However, they get really booked up and I need to give at least a second choice in case they can't take me.
There's no way I'm going to Ealing Hospital, I really dislike going there for other things and it doesn't sound great for maternity (even my dr suggested it wasn't a good first choice...). My other choices (based on where DH feels comfortable driving to with a labouring wife!) seem to be Central Middlesex and Chelsea & Westminster. What does anyone think about giving birth there? I'd rather do a birthing centre than normal hospital ward if possible.
Thanks!

Hi bundle -
I'm in Ealing and think I'm restricted to what's on their list which includes the three i've mentioned plus Ealing, Hillingdon and UCH.

anyone can go to edgware, but it's probably a bit of a trek for you. have heard quite good reports re: uch. don't know much about the others.

i have found the antenatal care at C+W very good (though their receptionists are AWFUL!)..
I haven't given birth there yet but they were brilliant when i had a scare today. (i'm overdue) - got me in straight away for monitoring.
a real plus has been that all my appointments have happened on time. There are tales of people waiting several hours at other hospitals because they run so behind schedule.
on the downside it can be hard to get non urgent midwife appointments there. a couple of times i have had to see the GP when i was supposed to be seeing a midwife.

Thanks bundle and miniegg - I saw my dr this morning and she seems pretty confident that i'll get Queen Charlotte's as I've been to see her early (i'm not quite 6 weeks), so she didn't even bother asking me for 2nd and 3rd choices after all that - if they do, sounds like C&W would be a good second choice. miniegg - hope everything goes well and that it happens soon for you!!
