Waters broken- please can someone answer me something about contractions?

Hi All
Waters broke at 5am this morning so went to hospital to get checked and now back at home as contractions not started. What I'd like to know is, in between contractions, does the pain completely go, or does it stay just very mild? The reason I am asking is that I have been getting tightenings (not calling them contractions in case they're not) which are crampy and achey, and then in between still have a dull back ache. I think this is probably normal as they said baby was slightly back to back.
Anyway- thanks for any responses love an excited PPS!!!! XXXX

I def had the achiness in the early stages, but didn't notice it so much later on. Good luck! xx

Oh exciting!

I've had 3 back to back labours and yes I did have a slight backache in bewteen contractions. Nothing compared to the contractions, but still there all the same.

If you can bear sitting down, a bath might help with this. Or a couple of paracetamol.

Good luck. Keep us posted!

oh, and if it is back to back, it might take a while for things to settle down and contractions become regular.

Try lots of forward leaning and upright positions to ease the pains and get baby into a good position for birth.

oooh pps, you've beaten me to it [vexed] !!!

don't worry - you'll know when you're getting there

with ds1 i had crampiness on and off for several hours before it got to the stage where i needed to breathe through them and get on all fours (the point at which i realised i was in labour!)

keep active and get on with your morning as much as you can

amd keep us posted!!! good luck x

How exciting! Have you got a ball to sit on or lean over? I found it very useful. Good luck and hope its not too long before your lo is with you!

Thanks all- will take your advice too about getting baby in a better position (its only slightly back to back and does keep switching sides so hopefully will move)!

Tutter- sorry about that- I promise you can be next! Mind you- not really in 'labour' yet so there is still time for you to beat me!!!

With DS, waters broke at 6:30am and I had niggles through the day, before proper contractions at 6:45pm and then DS born at 2:50am. Hope it goes quickly for you .

Is it just my DH or do all DH's relish the idea of being asked to stimulate nipples? I can imagine my DH looking like he's trying to tune a radio

I'm not even gonna ask mine to do it. His eyes will light up and he'll be keen but as soon as he realises the nipples are as far as it goes he'll lose interest!! X
