with ds1 i only realised i was in labour at 8:30ish am

was fully dilated 3.5 hours later and ds was born after another 1.5 hours

am now 37+3 and trying to figure whether i'm going to have time to get people home in time to take care of ds1 and for me to get to hospital in time for 4 hours' worth of IV a/bs (for group B strep)

interested to hear how much quicker (or not?) your experiences of second labours were...

Just less than 4 hours with my first, just over 2.5 with my second!

But with my first I had already been in hospital for a week because my waters broke at 36.5 weeks! I was really worried with my second one that

a) he was also going to come early (which he did - he was actually born at 36 weeks, so even earlier!)

b) that labour would be so quick I wouldn't get to the hospital! I did get there straight away, but the midwives didn't realise I was in established labour, and all hell broke loose when they realised I was ready to push. It only took one push and he was born! And I didn't have stitches [smug]

Nemo - i've been searching for weeks for someone whose second labour was longer and had convinced myself my midwife was lying and that it didn't happen! Thanks

ds1 - 53 hours from waters breaking, although no actual noticeable contractions at that point.
ds2 - 30 minutes (unplanned home birth)
