Childbirth

Will it be the same for me as for my mum?

People keep telling me that my experience of childbirth is likely to be very similar, if not identical, to my mother's experience. Which would be fine, if her labour with me wasn't a horror story...

Was yours like your mother's?

mine was the exact opposite of my mum's, unfortunately.

No one can predict what your labour will be like for a first child.

don;t make it a fait accompli!

there are things you can do to try and get a more positive experience

Not at all reliable. My mother had three good (if somewhat precipitous) labours. I am built the same as her. I had an 'elective' CS and an 'emergency' CS.

Also medical care in childbirth has moved on a lot. Even in the past 2 years (since I had ds) there have been changes.
