Bleeding 3 weeks after birth, what is normal?

Hi, had baby almost 3 weeks ago and my bleeding has been quite erratic...brown by the third day then as I began to do more walking etc, it went back to red...then brown...then red again. It comes and goes.
Today I passed a small clot and am just wondering if this is normal? I know my membranes were an issue after the birth, but apparently uterus has contracted well.

Just after some reassurance really! Thanks x

How would you define small for the clot?

Your bleeding sounds a lot like mine was tbh and it is certainly normal for activity to increase flow. Mine was on and off until 6 weeks with all of them.

Thanks Peachy, that's good to hear. It wasn't very big at all, about a 10p? Sorry for the TMI.

i bled on and off for 3 weeks after my 3rd and 4th baby,it was fine.however, after number 5 the bleeding had almost stopped after 3 weeks then got heavy again with small clots.i was also having pains down there.i went to the doctor and she took a swab-turned out i had an infection.nothing serious, but i had to have a course of ab's to clear it up.

so if you have any unusual pain or it gets noticably heavier then you may be best to get it checked out, just in case.
