I bought a La Bassine and it was great- nice and compact but big enough and goos solid sides. Topped it up with a few kettles throughout the evening.

buying one is cheaper, i had a BPIAB - also have heard several times that heated ones can be a bit unhygenic - bacteria can grow if used for long period of time. But i am no expert, don't quote me! you can easily keep a BPIAB warm with the foil cover and popping a new bucket of warm water in every hour oe so. all the besr

Also had BPIB - and would recommend them. And my opinion now would be that if you want to 'bathe' in the pool in advance of your labour, you could do so with confidence without using the disposable liner, saving the liner for the birth. Think if you were intending this though definitely get the pump - you wouldn't want to siphon all that water several times!

Also had birth pool in a box and can really recommend. Was nice and padded on my knees and the sides very sturdy to lean against. Make sure you have a room big enough though, obviously! Definitely hire the pump thing to empty it as well cos dh said it would have taken ages otherwise!
