Has anyone had problems with their stitches dissolving after a third degree tear?

Had DD 3 1/2 weeks ago - long labour resulting in a ventouse birth and third degree tear. Saw the midwives on Friday who said that hospital may have used wrong type of thread for the stitches and some hadn't dissolved. There were also a couple in the wrong place.

Had one out last week and others to be removed later today - v painful! Has anyone else had this problem and have any advice?

Good Lord. I didn't have these problems, but ouch! You have my sympathy, even if I have no useful advice...
Hopefully someone more useful will be along soon.

Ooooouch! You poor thing, what a rubbish mistake for someone to make (totally inexcusable)

I had terrible problems with my stitches (although noone ever admitted it was their fault). My original midwife kept telling me they were healing up ok despite me telling her I was still having a lot of pain a few weeks after the birth.

Eventually I managed to get a more experienced midwife to have a look and she told me my tear hadn't healed up properly and was still red raw....thankfully she referred me to physio where i had months of laser treatment which helped with the healing.

Hiya,

I was told by my HV (ex midwife) that you usually heal before the stitches disolve so it can often be uncomfortable and tight. You can request to have the stitches removed, but if the job has been done well the doctor may not be able to get to them.

I was told to wait until 6-7 weeks and sure enough by then the duscomfort had gone!

Not saying this is what has happened to you, just passing on info in case it helps!
