afterpains - how long do they last?

I had DS2 nearly 2 weeks ago and am still in a great deal of discomfort. I know everyone says afterpains are worse with subsequent births but I am finding the pains are constant and not just when feeding. I often can't stand up straight as it pulls too much and I can't walk very far at all. Is this the norm??

hi - maybe you could ask your GP to check your uterus is going back properly. I had bad after pains and not just when feeding but I could stand up properly and walk about. Did you have a CS or normal?

teabags I had the same thing, midwife advised taking paracetmol if it was too much too handle. I found it as painful as contractions in labour - I had a natural birth. My dh still does not believe how much pain I was in! If I can remember righlty they finsihed in about 2 weeks, but maybe get the mw or hv to checked that your uterus is moving back ok

I'm still getting some afterpains after 15 days, I think I read somewhere they can carry on for 3 weeks.
