what to buy for sister???

my little sister is having her baby as we speak by cs.its my first neice or nephew and i am so excited.

its her first baby and has everything u can think of for the baby.

i wondered if any of you could give me some ideas on what to get her to aid recovery or an unusual pressie for lo.

If, as you say, she has everything for her baby already then, yes, concentrate on her. Get her some lovely smellies, if she's that kind of girl, even a voucher for a massage that she can use in the future would be lovely.

take round a casserole or a pie, or send her posh readymade meals , or some cake , or fruit , or even cheese - my parents sent us a hamper like this just as we arrived stressed and frazzled at a new house with no kitchen and it was seriously helpful.

one of the best things someone gave us when dd was born was a hamper of ready meals from M&S about a weeks worth of food it was lovely and we really appreciated it, proper meals that could just be stuck in the oven.

I would wait until the sales and get some outfits for the baby for next winter and maybe one for now I found that I had loads of small sizes that were hardly worn but suddenly ran out of clothes at about 6 months

A lovely thing would be to make about 5 meals that can be frozen in foil trays and just need to go in the oven, and take them round.

Also offer to stay the night once a week to do feeds if bottle feeding, or do the burping and back to bed bit if breast feeding, so she can sleep a bit.

best thing I got when Ds1 was born was someone to sit with him while I went and had a lovely long bath, with bubbles and a magazine.

Ready meals from M&S sound damn good as well!

I agree the food sounds like a good idea! Also offer to take the washing and ironing away and do it for a couple of weeks.

When DS was born, some distant relative of DHs sent a Royal Mint coin collection. It's the sort of thing I would usually think was quite naff, but I was looking at it the other day and it's really lovely. It's all the coins that were in circulation in 2005 in a presentation box thingy. I'm not sure that he'll appreciate it for a LONG time... but maybe in his thirties or forties he will lol. And we didn't get duplicates of that...

When my last baby was born a group of my friends clubbed together and bought me a gift token for a local beauty therapist so I could have massges/nails/facials etc. I really appreciated this, it meant a lot to me as it just made a change to think about frivolous, girly things instead of nappies and baby puke, lol.

food does sound good altho she still lives with my mum and i would hate to make my mum feel redundant.

Congrats! What a whopper lol! When I had DS1 a friend got me a voucher for a facial and made up a little voucher for her to babysit - I used them both at the same time and it was lovely!
