Hello,

First of all am not sure if i should put this in childbirth or pregnancy but i might try both.

Anyway am 33 and half weeks (2nd baby) and for about a week i having been having alot of bh. Very noticable ones too. But for the last 3 days i have been getting alot of period type pains that seem to be coming in waves and also have had the runs too, So basically i was wondering is this normal. I mentioned it to my friend whos a nurse and she said i had better take it easy because they can be signs of preterm labour so if it goes any longer get in touch with my midwife.

So my question is... Is this completely normal for this stage, i didnt have this problem last time. x

They are classic signs of impending labour - but also could be coincidence. Take it easy and definatly get in contact with midwife if you experience more BHs, especially if they get regular etc. xxx

The main problem with having the runs is that you could get dehydrated which can bring on preterm labour itself so make sure you drink lots - rehydration mixture is ok in pregnancy but you can just dilute orange juice as well! I had a day where I was getting terrible stomach aches which came and went in my last pregnancy at 34 weeks. i went to delivery suite in the end and they monitored the baby's heart beat and any contractions. Found no contractions and sent me home with paracetamol. Don't know if it was connected or not but I delivered at 36 weeks baby fine so....Hope it goes ok
