Hi All, I am 39 + 3, I have been having BH for about a week now very painful, saw my DR on Tuesday he said my blood pressure was fine so he wasnt worried etc etc, but tonight I have been having REALLY painful BH/contractions, I have been having a stretching feeling just about my pubic line & also tightenings across the top of my stomach, are these also BH or is DD pushing down or is it contractions??? I have had sickness/nausea on & off for a week & diarehhea (sp) for a few days aswell. DH has been timing them, first ones were about 10 mins apart & the last few have been about 4 mins apart lasting about a minute each. I feel suck a twit asking if I am in labour or not as I read on here you will know if you are, but I am so unsure!!

In my exp Braxtons feel like tightenings and you have to bend over or you skin will burst. Contactions are unmistakable - like waves of pain washing over you.

Good luck, and enjoy if this is it or for when ever it happens, xxx

Aww, Shell, Nobody but the professionals can answer that question. We all have different feelings when going into labour.

Take me, my waters broke and I had no pain for the first two days but I was told I was having contractions!!

Now when day 3 kicked in, I knew about it. We are all different.

Ring MW and see what she advises.

Good luck girl and remember your breathing, it really helps.

How you feeling now?

when you are in labour...the time between contractions diminishes, the intensity increases, there is often backache and the contractions last aroudn a minute. the differecnce is, they do not stop.... if you can post on here and aren;t retreating into your own world, likley to be prelabour

the baby will be lining up for birth and the contractions are helping to soften and dilate the cervix and tone the uterus , so they are not being wasted!

I have had another terrible night, had 2 & 1/2 hours sleep, mainly because I am itching like mad, it started just on my feet & hands but now it seems to be everywhere, on my head & even behind my ears? Does anyone no what could be the cause, I literally have made my hands bleed because of scratching in the night, PLEASE HELP! I also had terrible BH last night, I no they all help the cervix softening, but I can hardly cope with BH so I dread to think what I iwll be like with real contractions. Sorry for whingeing yet again

p.s my feet were the worst and i found that by wrapping my feet in clingfilm and stopping the air getting to them helped stop the itching. (might be worth a try!)

blue - did you get the itching after an epidural? Didnt want to sound doomy, but itching that bad while PG can be a sign of something I cant remember what its called, but it can be serious. xxx

Quootiepie · 19/12/2006 09:26

let me know how you get on Shell xXx

blueamema · 19/12/2006 10:49

Quootiepie~ no did'nt have epidural. May have been linked to bacterial infection I picked up after having ventouse & forceps. Plus really low blood count? But no real explanation for itching!

I have also heard of problems relating to itching in late pregnancy.
Hope you have got in contact with MW and that it's not too serious SHELL2006. x

Just got back from the hospital, had loads of blood tests as they thought it may be a problem with my liver, but THANKFULLY all the tests have come back negative, babys heartbeat is fine, MW was a bit concerned as baby was a bit quiet, but its normal for her to be quiet during the day, she livened up after a bit anyway. They have given me Piriton to relieve the itching & I have to go back on Thursday (EDD) to see a consultant, if the itching is still as bad they may induce me which I am a bit worried about but it must be for the best musnt it???? MW was a bit concerned that I havent been referred to a consultant yet as my EDD is 2 days away, is it normal to have a consultant by this stage? I am itching like mad still but hopefully these tablets will sort me out, Thank you Q for your advice this morning as without you I dont think I would of phoned the MW & I may try your tip blue!! Thank you both xx Oh one more thing, if they do induce me, how long does it take or is it a sit and wait jobby???? xx
