Hi all i am 39 weeks with number 3, i have been getting really painful contractions in my back and bump for the last two nights, and feeling really nausious, then when i manage to get to sleep and wake up, they are gone and just get niggly pains coming and going throughout the day. Has anyone else had this and is it the start of things or could it just be bh's (never had these before) thanks

I had this with number 2. Had two nights of exactly that, contractions nearly all night then not so bad in morning. After night 3 called the midwives in the morning and I was 9 cm dilated. I had basically been labouring nearly all weekend so beware!!

lollipopz, it could be things starting to kick off. I can't remember exactly the physiology, but the hormone that you produce that kickstarts labour tends to be higher at night than during the day, therefore things are starting to happen! With my third, I started contracting every night for a week before I finally went into labour proper
