After feeling like I've been pregnant for 9 years as opposed to the 9mths it's actually been, DS2 will hopefully make his appearance in the next 24hrs!

Sherlock - eh NO! Sis was over 2 weeks ago to bring all my cards and pressies home for rellies and friends.
So. I'm all sorted for a "quiet" (yeah right!) Christmas with DP, DS1 and her -she's coming back on 23rd for a week to play slave- no way was I ever contemplating it this year!! Best excuse I've ever had

1 leg done, 1 to go - it's a form of torture trying to shave legs at 40wks in between contractions!

Any tips lulu??
Can I have one of your famous back rubs when I finish my other leg?

don;t forget to breathe !!!! LOL!!

how frequent are the contractions....increasing in intensity ? time between them diminsishing? back ache? lasting around a minute?

if you can post on here, it is early days ! when you are closing your eyes and zoning out....time to think about getting to the hospital !!!

nipple stim helps bring on the contractions stronger...and keep them going....bounce on the gym ball....belly dance....rock your hips.....

keep yuour fluids up,,

The way I look at it Jennie, I can't control how many people poke/look/whatever around down there while I'm in labour. But I'll do my best to make sure I control what state they see me in as much as poss. I will be left with a scrap of dignity!!!

Thanks lulu. They're still the same -ish.. Lasting about 45 seconds and 6-7 mins apart. Probably not much gonna happen tonight so will try to get some sleep and pray this doesn't turn into a thread of Natalie Jane proportions. Don't think I could handle that timescale!!

Ok time for an update:
I didn't get a great night as DS woke up twice - first time DP took him, 2nd time I offered (I need less sleep than DP, contractions weren't bad and Iwanted him able to drive to hosp without killing us all!!!). DS didn't go back to sleep for over an hour. Then new baby was quite active so I only slept off and on.

Contractions are back this morning 7-8 mins apart, lasting 40 seconds and fairly painful but I'm dutifully breathing through and trying to stay active. Hope something happens today.

I have lovely Barry's Tea lulu so you'll be fine - and the freezer is full. But hopefully we're gonna avoid all that! I've already eaten some pineapple this morning and am in a bit of a tidy frenzy too!

you need to eat 7 fresh pineapples to get enought of the enzyme to help things along... i suggest you buy some gaviscon if you are thinking of eating that many!!!!!!

SEVEN? Ah feck!

lulumama · 09/12/2006 10:36

that isn;t neccesarily a challenge !!

unless your waters have gone, sex is the fun alternative to the pineapple...or nipple stim, with a breast pump if you have one !!

TBH-- LO will come when he/she is ready, but having a go at helping things along, helps by making you fel you are doing something and the prostoglandins released by the nipple stim and in semen do really help ripen the cervix !

don;t knacker yourself out though !!!

ERm, confession lulu:

I already got DP to take advantage of the clean-shaven leg status last night IYKWIM.

Don't think I could go a 2nd round just yet tho - am like a whale!

Rang labour ward to give them a heads up.
If my waters go (still intact) I've to get to the hospital ASAP otherwise hold off til 3-4mins and then head in.

HAPPY DAYS!

Gonna turn off PC now and sort out food/clothes etc for DS, get bag in car and shower and change clothes.

Wish me luck!
