If you could answer either 'yes' or 'no' ONLY - what would your answer be?

no-one died from the pain of childbirth so yes...but it is harder for some than others, and agree a little with MP re first/ subsequent births...

and depends a lot on so many many variables that a yes or no answer cannot be given IMHO.

see..i have answered 3 times already!!

yes of course it is, people have been doing it for centuries. I had ds2 with no pain relief except gas and air (not sure if you are including that).

I am including G&A - things I'm not including are massage, supportive birth partners, using gravity to assist etc etc etc.

I'm not sure what I mean by 'unmanageable' but I guess something on the lines of the pain is so bad, you literally pass out and your heart stops and you need urgent medical care as a result.

We are all trained in 'the pain of childbirth' and we also know that fear causes more pain. I'm due with my first in 3 weeks and I know it will help me if I know that although I may feel as if I'm dying, if the general consensus is that it's manageable, then that's good enough for me! The fear is of not coping and whether that has life threatening implications. Does any of that make sense??

well Baretoes that's a funny definition on unmanagable

I would have thought unmanagable meant I was begging passers-by to kill me

It's unlikely that things would progress as you describe! But fear/terror due to intense pain kicks in for people at different levels, and if you are labouring under that kind of terror, it is likely to hamper your progress considerably, I would imagine

personal experience- g&a was brilliant with both labours and helped to relieve some of the pain and make labour seem to go faster!
