I've just heard from a relative who is at the hosp for induction
I expect I will hear once there is a result but how long will I have to wait??

Will I will be worrying all tomorrow??

(obv I understand worrying is a lot easier for me than labour will be for her)

I went in to be induced at 8pm Monday nite and finally had DS at 3.30am Wednesday morning, so if she is anything like me, it might be a little while.....

I was lucky both times for me it was quick. I don't think you can guess as everyone reacts differently to the drugs given. I was 4 hrs 15 with ds1 and 1 hr 15 with ds2.

I went in at 2pm on Weds - DS1 born at 11pm on Thursday

My Mum and MIL kept phoning the hospital to find out what was going on - we'd completely forgotten that anyone might be worried!!

Thanks for the replies

I think it will probably be a long time
Induction is due to baby not growing so I guess it will be pessary, drip etc until they get a result

Depends how they induce. I was told that if they needed to use a pessary, it might take up to 6 hours for anything to kick off and I might need more than one. Then they would break the waters and give it another hour or so to see if the contractions would kick in... If not, they would start me on a drip. So could be very quick or a day or so, I guess.

Try not to worry - inductions don't work for everyone. I had 7 which all failed! This is unusual but it can often take 2 or 3 attempts so don't be anxious if you don't hear anything for a while. My best friend's in labour tonight and I keep checking for more texts from her DP! I hope all goes well for your relative.

From the time they started giving me the syntocinon (or whatever) drip, it was actually only about 7 hours.

Sorry but how long is a piece of string? I got pessary at 10.15 am had DD at 8.50 pm (first baby). But there was one poor girl while I was on the ward who'd been there 3 days (induced every day with pessary) but the baby just wasn't budging - they forced her into a section in the end as we was v overdue.

Hope you hear something soon.
