Successful sweeps

Just wanted to share that sweeps can work!

41 weeks had a sweep Monday afternoon. It's was 'very unfavourable' midwife thought it was very unlikely to lead to anything. Bishops score was 2! Was so fed up.

Had a show Tuesday morning contractions then started up and I gave birth at 1am Wednesday!

Was convinced I would end up being induced so really point of post is don't give up!

Romomum, I too had a very successful sweep a couple of months ago, 4pm on a Wednesday, no symptoms following this and I became despondent, but I jumped on the birthing ball the next morning, watched 24, and suddenly realised I was having dull aches every 15 minutes. Of course, didn't believe it was the real deal until hours later, and when I got to hospital I was 6cms, baby born 9pm Thursday. It really really can work. It doesn't hurt at all, its more uncomfortable. It's amazing as sometimes baby's head can be felt!

Sweeps only show what your cervix is doing at that point in time. Things could be entirely different 6 hours later. Sweeps will only work if your body is gearing up to labour anyway - if your sweep works it may be that you would have gone in to labour anyway without it
